Self-reference

Blogging is an inherently narcissistic pursuit. A version of this idea has existed in the conscious mind since 2018.

Please excuse this display, these are inside thoughts.¹

Narcissism is a survival instinct. I am not afraid of my own inherent narcissism. To exist is to be selfish. The oxygen I breathe is taken away from others undoubtedly more virtuous yet I persist.

Living free of narcissism itself is a self-obsessed pursuit. It is recursive and inescapable. Total absence of narcissism is total ablation of the self — Lifeless.

I have adopted a quid pro quo doctrine. I perform virtuous acts for others because it is self-actualizing. I enjoy the company of my friends and family and in order to retain their presence I must continue to enact virtuosity.

Hedonists, libertines and other antisocial elements with extol a cruel, short-sighted selfishness. To the libertine, there is only a present time and thus a present need for positive psychological stimuli, by any means necessary.

These thoughtless masturbatory elements² fundamentally misunderstand narcissism. This is considered “malignant narcissism”. Wrong life cannot be lived rightly.

Conversely, true life is only attained through continuous synthesis of the competing libido and destrudo, consciously or otherwise.³
